Short travel
Our day at Pipa Beach was over, but we could enjoy the night life there for a short while. Already at six, the sun was set. We then wandered around in the small village of Pipa. The principal streets host a large number of souvenir shops, bars, and restaurants. One of these streets was entirely focused on tourists and had many restaurants, bars, and night clubs next to each other. A Valhalla for tourists. Restaurants that were offering a wide variety of dishes and drinks: from local snacks to Italian pasta, from Brazilian cachaça to Scottish whiskey. Almost everything you could imagine was available, but sometimes you would have to pay more for it. More than I was used to pay in Belo Horizonte, for instance. Tourist rates. At eight, we entered the bus for another nightly bus ride. A relatively short ride to the beach of Canoa Quebrada, in the neighboring state of Ceará. The bus driver made a prolonged stop of one hour and a half. We then spent our time lazily in plastic chairs, some of us went asleep. Others, including me, witnessed a real-life cat-and-mouse game. The cat own, game over…
Sunrise colors
The distance between Pipa Beach and Canoa Quebrada Beach is about five hundred kilometers. Despite the prolonged interval, we arrived shortly after 5 am in Canoa Quebrada. The sun was about the rise in the sky, we all left the bus, in order not to lose this spectacular natural wonder. For a short while, the clouds were pink, the ocean water was bluish purple. The falésias (sand cliffs) were still dark, but turned into bright orange, when the sun had risen higher in the sky. A breathtaking sunrise, an unforgettable experience! We did not complain about the short night rest in the bus. Our day at Canoa Quebrada Beach was already successful, with apparently more unforgettable moments to come during that day…
5.39 am. Sunlit falésias (sand cliffs),
5.45 am. The clouds still pinkish, but the ocean
water already shows the azure blue color
6.46 am. The beach, still deserted during early
morning hours…
