Transfer of the capital of Republic of Piratini (1836-1845) from Piratini to Caçapava do Sul
The transfer was ordered by president Bento Gonçalves. In nine years time of the existence of Republic of Piratini (what is now the Brazilian state Rio Grande do Sul), the capital was transfered various times: Piratini, Caçapava do Sul, Alegrete, São Gabriel, Bagé (for 2 weeks only), and Borja (not official).
Revolt of the fortresses of Lage and Santa Cruz against president Marechal Floriano Peixoto.
The revolt, commanded by 2º Sargento Silvino Honório de Macedo, captured the officers and liberated the prisoners. The two-day revolt was ended by bombardments by navy planes and invasion by 2 battalions of a neighboring fortress.
