238: Telephone booth
When you’re somewhere on vacation, and you have no opportunity to keep in touch with the home front by means of your mobile, a public telephone is an outcome. Nowadays, these payphones disappear gradually from the streets, but in Brazil they are found on almost every street corner. These booths are not entirely closed, as in the UK or the Netherlands, but they only provide some privacy and protection from sun or rain. Most phones in Brazil are painted in light blue or purple. However, in some states you will find other colors, such as green booths in Curitiba. In some tourist towns you will find pay phones that are inspired upon the tourist attractions in that town. As Guarapari, where I found this phone in the form of a huge shell.
