Dia Nacional do Ex-combatente
(Veteran’s Day). The date is established by lei nº 4.623 (6 May 1965), while lei nº 5.315, (12 September 1967) regulated Article 178 of the Brazilian Constitution about the status of veterans. During the Second World War, Brazil participated with the FEB (Brazilian Expedition Force). The FEB took part in the liberation of Italy, and gained international reputation with the conquest of Monte Cassino. The National Monument that commemorates the victims of the Second World War is located in Rio de Janeiro.
