Paulo Gonçalves was born in Santos (SP). He initially worked for Telégrafo Inglês, but he dedicated himself to journalism.
He worked for various newspapers in his city, as an editor. He also taught at a college. In 1922, his debut book was published: ‘Yara’, which gained enthusiast critics. He also wrote comedy pieces, like “As mulheres não querem alma’.

FUNAI made the first contact with an then unknown indigenous tribe.
At least 30 indigenous of the Tsohom-Dyapa tribe were living under dominion of another, larger tribe: the Kanamari. They were encountered in the state of Amazonas: in the indigenous reserve Vale do Javari. FUNAI is the government-based organ Fundação Nacional dos Índios (National Foundation for the Indigenous People).

1965 Approval of new elections in eleven Brazilian states, by the Brazilian Congress.
These elections were held on 3 October 1965.
Slovenian swimmer Martin Strell finished the crossing of the Amazonas River (5268 km).
He achieved this crossing in 66 days.
