Almost every religious institution owns its Day of the Adolescent, many Brazilian cities have their own Day of the Adolescent. BRAZILIAN HISTORY:
1974
Addition of 15% alcohol anhydride to gasoline, in order to economize fuel.
The announcement was done by the Instituto do Açúcar e do Álcool do Brasil (IAA; Brazilian Institute for Sugar and Alcohol). In the aftermath of the worldwide oil crisis in 1973, bio fuel was introduced as one of the first alternatives. At present, a blend of 24 percent alcohol and 76 percent gasoline is used, which is suitable for the majority of all Brazilian cars. The prophetic words of Henry T. Ford, in 1925, are about to become reality:
“alcohol is the fuel of the future”

Birth of pedagogue Paulo Freire.
Paulo Reglus Neves Freire was born in Recife, and lived under very poor conditions in his childhood. While Paulo still was at the high school, he became teacher of Portuguese grammar. In 1959, he obtained his doctorate, after defending his thesis “Educação e atualidade brasileira”. In 1962, 300 land workers were tested with a method developed by Paulo: to learn to read and write within 45 days. In 1964, Paulo, then general manager of the Brazilian Literacy Program, was arrested as a ‘traitor’. He went into exile in Chili. Later he became visiting professor in Harvard, and traveled around the world to start alphabetization programs. In 1980, Paulo returned to Brazil and became member of the Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT). In the final years of his life, Paulo had various political and advisory functions. He was awarded the UNESCO prize in 1986. In 1997, Paulo died at the age of 75. In 1991, the Paulo Freire Institute was founded. The institute controls educative and pedagogic activities in more than 20 countries.
